Rajasthan Inflation Relief Package
State Budget was recently presented at the Rajasthan State Assembly. During the budget presentation, it was announced that the State Government of Rajasthan has allocated Rs 19,000 crores as an inflation relief package. This has been done to relieve the people of Rajasthan from the burden of increasing prices. Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot holds the finance portfolio as well.
About the Relief Package
- Free food packets to families below the poverty line; This is being done under National Food Security Act. The food packets include one kilogram of sugar, one kg of pulses, and 1 litre of edible oil. The State Government has allocated 3000 crores of rupees for this.
- LPG cylinders at subsidised rates. This is to be provided under Ujjwala Scheme. The cylinders are to be given at 500 rupees. More than 76 lakh families are to be benefitted from this
- 100 units of free electricity per month; only to domestic electricity consumers and not to commercial. Earlier this was 50 units per month. Rs 7000 crores have been allocated for this
Chiranjeevi Swasthya Bima Yojana
The scheme was launched to provide free treatment to the people of Rajasthan. It was launched in 2021. Now, under the new relief package, the coverage amount has been increased to 25 lakh rupees. It was 10 lakh rupees earlier.
The next assembly elections for Rajasthan are to be held in December 2023. Congress is the current ruling party of the state.
