Rajasthan: AI-based Lok Adalat

Chairman of NALSA, Uday Umesh Lalit, launched India’s First AI-powered, end-to-end digital Lok Adalat in Rajasthan.

About AI-based Lok Adalat

The AI-based Lok Adalat was launched during 18th All India Legal Services Authorities’ Meet. It was held in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
The digital Lok Adalat has been designed and developed by the technology partner Jupitice Justice Technologies of Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority (RSLSA 22).

Significance of the AI-based Lok Adalat

In India, the number of pending cases is increasing over the years. Covid-19 pandemic induced lockdown has further led to addition of pending cases. Recently, in Bihar, district court gave its verdict in a land dispute case after 108 years. It was one of the oldest pending cases in India. According to NITI Aayog report, it would take an around 324 years to dispose of all current pending cases in country. NITI Aayog report further states that, 75% to 97% of justiciable problems do not reach to the Courts. Thus, 5 million to 40 million people never reach to Court every month.

Role of Jupitice

About Digital Lok Adalat

The Digital Lok Adalat will help in disposing off the pending disputes or disputes which are at the pre-litigation stage. Cases will be disposed-off by Rajasthan State Legal Service Authority. This platform will provide end-to-end dispute resolution processes like- easy drafting & filing of applications, smart templates to formulate settlement agreements, one-click generation of e-notices, digital hearings through tailor-made video conferencing tools, etc.
