The 37-year old Parag Agrawal an IIT-Bombay graduate, has replaced Jack Dorsey as the new Twitter Chief executive officer.
He also became the youngest CEO in top 500 companies. Parag joined Twitter in October 2011 as an engineer and held the title of the company’s ‘Distinguished Software Engineer’. He also held the post of Twitter’s Chief Technology Officer in 2017.

As per Twitter, Indian Government made the largest number of requests for account information during the July-December 2020 period.
Also, it is reported that India is the second in terms of volume of legal demands for content removal, after Japan. These details were shared by Twitter in its bi annual transparency report.

Recently, Square has confirmed that it will initiate plans to develop a new tool for Bitcoin- a Hardware wallet and accompanying service for the cryptocurrency, Bitcoin. A hardware wallet is a special type of cryptocurrency storage that maintains and secures the user’s private crypto keys in the hardware device.

Microblogging platform Twitter has added an Indian payment gateway Razorpay for its Tip Jar feature, which was launched recently to allow users to send and receive money.
Using the feature, a limited group of people including creators, journalists and non-profits, could add Tip Jar to their profile and accept tips. Money can be sent through multiple modes of payment.

Union Ministers and government departments of the country are setting up accounts on Koo application.
It is seen as the Made-in-India alternative to the social media giant Twitter. The app was one among the winners of the government’s ‘AatmaNirbhar App Innovation Challenge’ in 2020. Recently, there has been a tussle between Twitter and Indian Government, in matters related to farm protest.

The Twitter account of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has reached 1 million followers. The bank also became the first monetary authority in the world to reach this mile stone on its official Twitter handle.
RBI created its official Twitter account only in January 2012 and in the current financial year, as many as 2.5 lakh new followers joined the RBI handle. Central bank of Mexico is in the second place with 7.74 lakh followers, followed by Bank of Indonesia with 7.57 lakh. US Federal Reserve is at the fourth place.

Twitter has recently rolled out tweets that disappear in 24 hours called ‘Fleets’ globally, on the lines of other sites like Snapchat, Facebook and Instagram.
The social media giant Twitter has tested the feature in Brazil, Italy, India, and South Korea, before launching the feature globally. These tweets cannot be retweeted and they will not earn likes similar to the older tweets.

Social networking major Twitter released its latest transparency report, which has the data between July -December 2019 on its rule enforcement, legal demands on content removal among others.
As per the report, India stands at fifth position in requesting Twitter and Periscope to remove content, based on local laws. Japan, Russia and Turkey ranked in the top 3 positions in the list. Twitter recorded a 21% rise in global account information requests and 789 requests from India.

The Prime Minister joined Twitter in the year 2009 and his handle is following 2,354 accounts. The Twitter handle of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has 3.7 crore followers. US President Donald Trump has over 8.3 crore followers on Twitter.
