India will host the 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of Parliaments (CSPOC) of Commonwealth Countries in 2026. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla announced this at the CSPOC Standing Committee Meeting in Guernsey. The event will focus on artificial intelligence, social media, and their role in parliamentary processes. India previously hosted CSPOC in 1970-71, 1986, and 2010, showcasing its cultural heritage and modern development.

Bihar will host the 85th All India Presiding Officers Conference (AIPOC) on January 20-21, 2025. The theme is “75th anniversary of the Constitution: The contribution of the Parliament and state legislatures in strengthening the constitutional values.” Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will preside over the event, with Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh present. Over 264 parliamentarians, legislators, and officials will attend. Bihar last hosted AIPOC in 1982 and before that in 1964. The event will be held at the Bihar Legislative Assembly premises. The 67th National Conference on Mission Viksit Bharat 1947-2047 was held on January 16 at the Indian Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The 27th International Congress on Glass (ICG) 2025 conference was held from January 20–24, 2025 at the Biswa Bangla Convention Center in Kolkata, India. The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology. The theme of the congress was “Glass: A Smart and Indispensable Material for Sustainable Society”. The conference was organized by CSIR-Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute (CSIR-CGCRI). Glass’s critical role in space, defense, and other sectors was highlighted. More than 550 delegates, including 150 international participants, attended ICG 2025.

At the Africa Energy Summit in Tanzania (Jan 27-28, 2025), 12 African nations launched National Energy Compacts to boost energy access and clean energy solutions. The countries include Chad, Ivory Coast, DR Congo, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Zambia, and Tanzania. The summit was held under “Mission 300,” led by the World Bank and African Development Bank, aiming to provide electricity to 300 million Africans by 2030. The Madhya Pradesh cabinet approved key policies, including the Semiconductor Policy and Drone Policy, ahead of the Global Investor Summit (GIS) on February 24-25 in Bhopal. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, after his visit to Japan, announced Japanese cooperation in metro rail, smart transportation, urban planning, and waste management. A special channel will be created to promote Japanese investment. The Semiconductor Policy aims to make Madhya Pradesh a hub for electronics and semiconductor manufacturing. The Department of Youth Affairs organized the BIMSTEC Youth Summit from 7th to 11th February 2025 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated the event on 8th February 2025. The summit aims to bring together youth from BIMSTEC nations to share experiences on youth-led initiatives. The theme is “Youth as a Bridge for Intra-BIMSTEC Exchange,” focused on advancing regional goals and achieving SDGs by 2030.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi co-chaired the ‘AI Action Summit’ in Paris on 11th February 2025 with French President Emmanuel Macron. France hosted the third International AI Summit on 10th-11th February 2025 to promote global cooperation in AI development. PM Modi announced that India will host the next Global AI Summit, following discussions at the Paris summit.
