In the year 2001, Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation was bifurcated and the North-Eastern Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NEKRTC), a separate independent corporation with its head quarters at Gulbarga was formed.

Notes:
Chandravalli is an archaeological site located in the Chitradurga district of Karnataka. The region is a valley formed by three hills, Chitradurga, Kirabanakallu and Jolagudda. It is a semi-arid region with scrub vegetation with a stream running through it. Excavations at Chandravalli have revealed earthen pots, painted bowls and coins of Indian dynasties like Vijayanagar, Satavahana and Hoysalas as well as denarii of Roman emperor Augustus Caesar and a coin of the Chinese Han dynasty Emperor Wu Ti belonging to 2nd Century BC.

The Tunga River is a river in Karnataka. The river is born in the Western Ghats on a hill known as Varaha Parvata at a place called Gangamoola. The river flows through two districts from here in Karnataka, namely the Shimoga District and Chikmagalur District. This river is 147 km long and it merges with the Bhadra River at Koodli, a small town located near Shimoga City, Karnataka. From here onward, this river is given the compound name Tungabhadra. Tungabhadra River flows in the eastwards direction and merges with the Krishna River in Andhra Pradesh. A dam has been built across it at Gajanur, and at Hospet a larger dam has been built across the compound Tungabhadra River.

Karnataka is the 4th largest Automobile producing state of India. It contributes about 8.5% to the national output in the sector. The automotive industry provides employment to more than 55,000 workers in the state of Karnataka. Karnataka is home to 7 major original equipment manufacturer  : Toyota Kirloskar Motors Ltd., Volvo India Pvt. Ltd., Tata – Tata Marcopolo, Honda Motorcycles & Scooters, Mahindra Electric, Scania, TVS Motors and more than 50 auto component manufacturers.

Karnataka’s State health policy of 2004 was revised in 2017. It was renamed as Karnataka Integrated Public Health Policy 2017. The aim of this policy is “to establish a technically sound political, economic, social and legal framework that gives clear long-term directions and support to improve the health status of the people of Karnataka.

Geetha Nagabhushan is a Sahitya Academy Awardee & Noted Kannada Novelist. She won the Kendra Sahitya Academy in 2004 for her novel “Baduku” and became the first Kannada woman to bag the award. She was also the first woman to win Nadoja Awards of Kannada University Hampi in 2004.
K Raghunath, was one of the founding members of the Beagles Basketball Club(BC), Bengaluru.
Cheeranjeevi Saran, is the grandson of Kannada late actor Shakti Prasad & the nephew of multilingual actor Arjun Sarja.

Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai presented the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award to Tennis Star Rohan Bopanna on November 31st, 2021. The Rajyotsava award is presented for achievers in a total of 24 categories. Each winner receives a gold medal along with a cash prize of INR 1 lakh. It is one of the highest civilian awards in Karnataka. Rohan Bopanna also received Ekalavya award in the year 2005.

Notes:
The Karnataka State Government has proposed in its state budget 2022-2023 for the allocation of budget of 9,315 Crores for the home department for the financial year 2022-2023. In each of the 5 police Commissionerates of the state, the Karnataka state budget 2022 has proposed installing of 200 surveillance cameras.

Notes:
The mascot of the 9th Karnataka Bird Festival held in 2023 was the “Malabar Trogon.” The Malabar trogon (Harpactes fasciatus) is a species of bird found in the forests of Sri Lanka and peninsular India, primarily in the Western Ghats, hill forests of central India, and parts of the Eastern Ghats. It was chosen as the mascot to represent the festival and the region’s rich birdlife.
