Notes:
‘Credit Guarantee Scheme for Subordinate Debt’ was launched on 24th June, 2020 to provide credit facility to the promoters of stressed MSMEs, through lending institutions. SMA-2 and NPA accounts who are eligible for restructuring as per RBI guidelines are the beneficiaries.
The Government had earlier decided to extend this scheme for six months from 31.03.2021 to 30.09.2021. Now it has been further extended till 31.03.2022.

Russia won the FIDE World women team chess title at Sitges, Spain. It stopped India 2-0 to regain the title.
Russia had been the Champion in the year 2017. Ace player D. Harika, R. Vaishali, Mary Ann Gomes, Bhakti Kulkarni and Tania Sachdev represented India. In the semi-final clash, India defeated Georgia while Russia defeated Ukraine to reach the finals.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has recently approved the administration of third booster shots of the BioNTech-Pfizer vaccine to people of European Union, who are above the age of 18 years.
The test data by EMA has shown that, injecting the third booster shot in a span of 6 month after the second dose raises the antibody levels.

The fifth edition of the India-Japan Maritime Bilateral Exercise (JIMEX) between the Indian Navy and the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF), is set to be held in the Arabian Sea from October 6 to 8.
JIMEX series of exercises was started in January 2012 with special focus on maritime security cooperation. The most recent edition of JIMEX was conducted in September 2020. Indian Navy will be represented by Indigenously-built Guided Missile Stealth Destroyer Kochi and Guided Missile Frigate Teg.

The Delhi government has identified 150 pollution hot spots in the city this year, up from 13 last year, for strict monitoring and control measures.
The government also launched an advanced ‘Green war room’ and Green app that will look into the problems pertaining to ‘10 kinds of pollution’ throughout winter. A 21-member team has been formed to manage the green war room, which will work 24×7 to monitor the pollution situation in the UT.

NASA’s Psyche Mission is set to be launched next year. It will be the first spacecraft to study an asteroid that is rich in metals, but not in not rich in dust and ice.
The mission will be targeted to the Psyche asteroid that orbits the Sun in the main asteroid belt, between Mars and Jupiter. Observations from ground and telescopes shown that the asteroid, which is 280 kilometres wide, is largely made up of metals.

Meghalaya has recently launched the Meghalaya State Capability Forum. It is initiated under the ongoing State Capability Enhancement Project (SCEP).
Meghalaya State Capability Forum will include bi-monthly events, attended by public officials, academia and civil society members. Each event will focus on a theme of importance for Meghalaya’s development.

India is set to assume the G20 Presidency in 2023. New Delhi-based Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations ICRIER’s 13th Annual International G20 Conference was held recently.
It was attended by the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Emerging market economies will hold the G20 presidency till 2025, with Indonesia in 2022 and India in 2023.

Shri. KV Subramanian who was the Chief Economic Advisor of India since December 2018 has stepped down from the post and has returned to academia. He has been instrumental in roll out of Economic Surveys for FY19, FY20 and FY21

Notes:
The conservative Chancellor of Austria – Sebastian Kurz has stepped down from the post, on allegations and suspicion of corruption.
This move has been made by Sebastian three days before a special sitting of the country’s parliament, in which the members were preparing to back a motion of no-confidence, which might have forced him out of the post.
