Col Santosh Babu was awarded Mahavir Chakra posthumously for resisting Chinese Army attack in Galwan valley in Ladakh sector during Operation Snow Leopard. Colonel Babu was the Commanding Officer of 16 Bihar regiment, which was deployed in Galwan Valley for the Operation.

Exercise “Dosti” is a biennial trilateral maritime exercise between the coast guards of India, Maldives and Sri Lanka. This year’s Exercise “Dosti” is the 15th edition is conducted in the Maldives during from November 20 to 24

The American space agency NASA has launched the first ever spacecraft to deflect an asteroid from its path.
Under the mission named Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART), a robo spacecraft was carried by a SpaceX-owned Falcon 9 rocket, with a plan to crash the robot spacecraft into the moonlet Dimorphos at a speed of 15,000mph thereby changing its path by a fraction. If successful, this would be the world’s first planetary defence system.

Germany has announced new commitments for more than EUR 1.2 billion (approx. INR 10,025 crore) to aid India’s fight against climate change and for cooperation on clean energy.
Germany has announced its target to reach climate neutrality by 2045 and emissions reductions in the energy and industry sectors by 77 and 58 per cent, compared to 1990. India and Germany account for nearly 9 per cent of global greenhouse gas (GHG).

The death anniversary of Babasaheb Dr BR Ambedkar is observed as has been observed as ‘Mahaparinirvan Divas’, on December 6 every year.
Millions of his followers gather at his resting place Chaitya Bhumi, located in Mumbai to pay tributes. This year, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi is addressing the followers at Chaitya Bhumi through video conference.

The United Kingdom recently unveiled its ‘Future Soldier’ modernisation plan, in order to increase its military presence in the world.
The country has released plans to improve manpower serving the military and future investments in weapons. The country’s defence ministry also announced an additional investment in the military equipment worth 8.6 billion pounds ($11.46 billion), during the next decade.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit India on 6 December to hold 21st India-Russia annual summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Ministry of External Affairs also announced that the first ‘2+2’ foreign and defence ministerial dialogue between India and Russia will be held on the same day.

An internal working group of RBI on the ownership and corporate structure of private sector banks has favoured allowing promoters to maintain any percentage of holding in the first five years and then capping it at 26 per cent after 15 years of operations.
RBI also released guidelines and explained that the cap on promoters’ stake in the long run of 15 years may be raised from the current levels of 15 per cent to 26 per cent of the paid-up voting equity share capital of the bank.

A first-of-its-kind programme to promote women in the field of research and development through lateral entry was launched recently.
Named the Women’s Involvement in Science and Engineering Research (WISER), it was launched by Indo-German Science & Technology Centre (IGSTC) for encouraging women researchers in joint R&D projects.

The Prichal docking module arrived at the International Space Station propelled by a modified Russian Progress propulsion compartment.
Prichal has five docking ports to accommodate multiple Russian spacecraft and provide fuel transfer capability to the Nauka module. Nauka has been named for the Russian word for “Science,”, and was launched to the space station in July.
