International Day for Biological Diversity is observed on May 22 every year. The theme for this year is “Building a shared future for all life”.
The United Nations proclaimed the day, which aims to spread awareness about issues of biodiversity in the world. Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate change Bhupender Yadav inaugurated Biological Diversity Exhibition at Chennai.

UNICEF recently released a report titled “Child Alert”. It highlighted that 600,000 more children may miss out on essential treatment. An increasing number of children may die from severe wasting as the price of food and life-saving treatment rises.
The effects of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and the impact of the coronavirus pandemic and ongoing damage due to climate change, are causing a spiraling global food crisis.

Vinai Kumar Saxena, who is currently serving as the Chairperson of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), has been appointed as the new Lieutenant Governor (L-G) of Delhi.
The President of India has accepted the resignation of former L-G Anil Baijal and appointed Saxena as his successor. He was also the member of National Committee headed by Prime Minister to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence.

Andhra Pradesh has joined the Global Network of Advanced Manufacturing Hubs (AMHUBs) of the World Economic Forum (WEF).
On the sidelines of the annual Davos meeting of WEF, the state government and WEF exchanged the platform partnership on “Shaping the Future of Advanced Manufacturing and Value Chains”. Andhra Pradesh is the first state selected of Shaping the Future of Mobility and “Moving India” initiatives.

The Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) and the World Economic Forum (WEF) announced a new initiative to boost flows of digital foreign direct investments globally.
Under the initiative, the DCO and WEF will launch Digital FDI Enabling Projects in countries around the world. DCO, which focuses on digital economy initiatives supporting youth, start-up entrepreneurs and women, has nine member states with a combined GDP of nearly USD 2 trillion.

Energy and Urban Development Minister Arvind Sharma has recently launched “Sambhav” portal with the objective of handling public grievances and monitoring programs and schemes of two departments in Uttar Pradesh. Which will serve as a platform to flag the complaints received from the public to those officials.

Japan has topped the Travel and Tourism Development Index 2021, followed by the United States, Spain, France and Germany. India is ranked 54th with a score of 4.2 which is eight less than 2019.

The 17th edition of the Mumbai International Film Festival for Documentary, Short Fiction and Animation Films (MIFF-2022) is being held from May 29 to June 4, 2022 at Films Division Complex, Mumbai. Bangladesh is the ‘country of focus’ at the festival which will include documentaries, short stories and animation films from around the world.

Russian forces announced the latest successful test of the Zircon hypersonic cruise missile on May 28, 2022, as Moscow intensifies its invasion of Ukraine. The missile was fired from an Admiral Gorshkov frigate stationed in the Barents Sea and “successfully hit” a target 1,000 km away in the White Sea in the Arctic.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai launched a new health and wellness app AAYU to address and heal chronic diseases and lifestyle disorders through yoga and meditation.
The app has been developed by Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (S-VYASA) in partnership with RESET TECH, an AI-driven health-tech platform.
