Andhra Pradesh has joined the Global Network of Advanced Manufacturing Hubs (AMHUBs) of the World Economic Forum (WEF).
On the sidelines of the annual Davos meeting of WEF, the state government and WEF exchanged the platform partnership on “Shaping the Future of Advanced Manufacturing and Value Chains”. Andhra Pradesh is the first state selected of Shaping the Future of Mobility and “Moving India” initiatives.

The Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) and the World Economic Forum (WEF) announced a new initiative to boost flows of digital foreign direct investments globally.
Under the initiative, the DCO and WEF will launch Digital FDI Enabling Projects in countries around the world. DCO, which focuses on digital economy initiatives supporting youth, start-up entrepreneurs and women, has nine member states with a combined GDP of nearly USD 2 trillion.

South East Asia is one of the largest rice producing areas in world. Arkansas Grand Prairie; Mississippi Delta, (parts of Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri, and Louisiana); Gulf Coast (Texas and Southwest Louisiana); and Sacramento Valley of California are major rice producing regions of America. Black sea region (which is currently affected by Ukraine war) is neither a major producer nor a consumer of rice.

The third edition of the bilateral exercise Bongosagar between the Indian Navy and Bangladesh Navy began at Port Mongla, Bangladesh. The harbor phase of the exercise is underway while a sea phase will commence in the North Bay of Bengal from May 26, 2022. Exercise Bongosagar aims to develop a high level of interactivity and joint operational skills through conducting a wide spectrum of maritime exercises and operations between the two.

WHO (World Health Organization) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was reappointed for a second five-year term on May 24, 2022 by the member countries of the United Nations Health Agency.

The Odisha government has started the ‘Olympic Value Education’ program in the schools of Odisha. The program has been integrated into the curriculum of at least 90 schools in Odisha.

India and UAE have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Bilateral Cooperation on Climate Action.
The agreement was signed between Bhupendra Yadav, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, UAE’s Climate Envoy and Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, in New Delhi on May 26, 2022. Its basic objective is to establish a framework that facilitates and enhances bilateral cooperation on climate action, and also contributes to the implementation of the Paris Agreement.

Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha and Union minister Jitendra Singh inaugurated the north India’s first Industrial Biotech Park constructed at Ghatti near Kathua in the
UT.
The Biotech Park will act as hub for incubation of new ideas, to support the agri-entrepreneurs, startups, farmers, scientists and students. Under the new Industrial Development Scheme, Jammu and Kashmir was able to fetch investment of more than Rs 38,800 crore so far.

Olympics bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain has been elected as the chair and a voting member on the Board of Directors for the Athletes’ Committee, as per the the International Boxing Association (IBA)
Indian boxer Shiva Thapa has also been elected as a member of the IBA Athletes Committee following the election held during the 2021 IBA Men’s World Championships.

As per Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) banknote survey, Rs 100 denomination banknotes are preferred the most by the people of India, while Rs 2,000 are least preferred. The survey has been conducted to assess demand for cash and denomination preferences at the consumer level.
At least 7 out of 10 respondents were satisfied with the new series of banknotes. Around 3 per cent of the respondents were not aware of any banknote security feature.
