The Reserve Bank had launched its first global hackathon – “Harbinger 2021 – Innovation for Transformation” with the theme ‘Smarter Digital Payments’ in November 2021.
It was organised to encourage entrepreneurs to suggest innovative solutions for smarter digital payments. Tone Tag has been declared the winner in two categories in the RBI’s first global hackathon Harbinger 2021. napID Cybersec and TrustCheckr were the winners of the other two categories.

Notes:
The Deep Atmosphere Venus Investigation of Noble gases, Chemistry, and Imaging (DAVINCI) is a mission of American space agency NASA.
The Mission is on course to study the planet Venus in 2029 to understand its chemical composition and whether humans can inhabit it. DAVINCI will be the first mission to Venus to incorporate fly-bys, analyse Venus’ temperature and atmosphere.

Notes:
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to monetise highway stretches to the extent of 1,750 km in the year 2022-23.
This asset monetisation move would help NHAI raise around Rs 20,000 crore. It has also prepared a list of road assets to be monetised in the current fiscal from different parts of the country. NHAI’s debt burden stood at worrisome Rs 3.5 trillion at the end of last financial year.

India has set a target to achieve 20 per cent Ethanol blending in petrol by the year 2025. Recently Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that India has achieved the target of 10 per cent ethanol blending in petrol five months before deadline (November 2022)
He made the announcement at a programme on the ‘Save Soil Movement’, on the World Environment Day. The 20% blending target can help in saving Rs 30,000 crore of foreign exchange per year.

The Union Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) announced the country’s first national air sports policy (NASP 2022).
The policy will cover air sports such as aerobatics, aero-modelling, model rocketry, ballooning, drones, gliding and powered gliding, hang-gliding, parachuting, paragliding and para-motoring, powered aircraft and rotorcraft. The Air Sports Federation of India (ASFI) is the apex governing body for this initiative.

Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Mansukh Mandaviya released the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India’s (FSSAI) 4th State Food Safety Index (SFSI).
It measures the performance of States across five parameters of food safety. Among the larger states, Tamil Nadu was the top-ranking state, followed by Gujarat and Maharashtra. Among the smaller states, Goa was first followed by Manipur and Sikkim. Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi and Chandigarh were at first, second and third ranks among UTs.

The United Nations designated June 8 as World Ocean Day to raise awareness about how to save the oceans and sustainably use them in the future.
The theme for World Ocean Day 2022 is ‘Revitalisation: Collective Action for the Ocean’. This year’s theme focuses on how to not only stop harming the ocean but on actions to be taken in order to restore the oceans through collective efforts.

The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved a proposal for signing a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on cooperation in the field of industries and advanced technologies.
The MoU will lead to growth of these sectors, increased domestic production, enhanced exports and reduction in imports.

In its latest World Investment Report, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) said FDI inflows to India declined to USD 45 billion in 2021 from USD 64 billion in the previous year.
India’s rank jumped one place to 7th position among top recipients of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the 2021 calendar year even though the FDI inflows into the country is declining. The United States (USD 367 billion) remained the top recipient of FDI.

Notes:
Union Road transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the longest steel bridge in the country, Mahatma Gandhi Setu (bridge).
The 5.6km-long bridge has been rebuilt over the River Ganga between Patna and Hajipur, at a cost of Rs 1,742 crore on National Highway-19.  The Minister also laid the foundation stones for 15 national highway projects worth Rs 13,585 crore in Bihar.
