The NASA Sea Level Change Team conducted a study recently, which shows that average sea level rise approaching the 1-foot mark for most coastlines of the contiguous U.S. by 2050.
As per the study, the Gulf Coast and Southeast will see the most change. The results from the NASA Sea Level Change Team could help refine projections for coastal communities for catastrophic and nuisance floods.

Kerala announced menstrual and maternity breaks will be provided to all female students in all institutions under the control of the state government’s higher education department.
As per the state’s Chief Minister, this is the first time in the country that a state government has taken such a pro-women decision for female students in universities and colleges.

The Odisha government has introduced a ‘comprehensive action plan for conservation of elephants and mitigation of human-elephant conflict’.
This is a zonation approach to maintain a long-term viable population of 1700-1800 elephants in the State. According to the plan, steps will be taken to minimise the incidence of human-elephant conflict and consequent death of humans and elephants.

The United States supplies Apache attack helicopters to India. The first fuselage out of six AH-64E Apache attack helicopters, which is the main body of an aircraft, was dispatched by TBAL to Arizona in the U.S. for final assembly.
The first fuselage for the Indian Army’s contract for six AH-64E Apache attack helicopters has rolled out of the Tata Boeing Aerospace Limited (TBAL) facility in Hyderabad. It is the Joint Venture between Tata Advanced Systems Limited and aircraft manufacturer Boeing.

Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) is given to children of age five to 18, for their achievements in six categories namely Art & Culture, Bravery, Innovation, Scholastic, Social Service, and Sports.
Each awardee receives a medal, a cash prize of Rs1 lakh, and a certificate. This year, the PM Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) was conferred on 11 children.

Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued directions to block the first episode of BBC Documentary ‘India: The Modi Question’ on YouTube.
Over 50 tweets linking to the videos were also asked to be blocked. Directions to block the documentary on YouTube and Twitter were said to be issued using emergency powers under the IT Rules, 2021.

The Atal Pension Yojana (APY) is a pension scheme targeted towards unorganised sector workers. It saw the highest-ever subscribers in 2022 with enrolments rising 36 per cent.
The figure crossed 10 million for the first time in a calendar year, data released by the finance ministry showed. The number of enrolments in 2022 rose to 12.5 million from 9.2 million in 2021. The majority of subscribers (82 per cent) opted for a Rs 1,000 pension per month.

The United States has recently launched several new schemes to reduce delays in visa processing in India.
The initiatives include scheduling special interviews for first time applicants and increasing strength of consular staff, which aims to cut delays in visa processing in India. The US embassy in Delhi and the consulates in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad conducted ‘special Saturday interview days’.

The first India Stack Developer Conference will be held in New Delhi, to ensure wider adoption of India’s digital goods all over the world. India Stack will be one of the focus areas at the World Government Summit 2023 which will be held at Abu Dhabi next month.

PepsiCo Foundation, the philanthropic arm of PepsiCo and CARE, launched ‘She Feeds the World’ program in India.
It aims to strengthen the role of small-scale women producers through sustainable training and economic support. The program will be implemented in the Alipurduar and Cooch Behar districts of West Bengal.
