The Polavaram lift irrigation project which is being constructed in the state of Andhra Pradesh, is expected to be completed in 2022.
It has been reported that the project would be completed on time and would commence to supply water during Kharif 2022. The Polavaram project is seen as a life line for the irrigation of Andhra Pradesh.

Chinese scientists have developed a quantum computer named Jiuzhang. China has claimed it to be the world’s first light-based quantum computer.
It is said that the computer can solve extremely esoteric calculations called Gaussian boson sampling in 200 seconds, which a conventional supercomputer would take 600 million years to provide result.

India’s national think-tank – NITI Aayog has released a draft paper titled “Guiding principles for the uniform national-level regulation of online fantasy sports platforms in India”.
As per the released report, online sports fantasy sector in India has a huge FDI potential of Rs.10,000 crore in the upcoming years and can generate 1.5 billion transactions by 2023.

The Madras High Court has the highest number of women Judges among all the High Count of India. Among the additional 13 Judges who sworn in recently, 4 were women.
As of now, the total number of women judges in Madras High Court stands at 13. Justice AP Sahi is the present Chief Justice of Madras High Court.

The Central Government has launched the Quarterly Return filing & Monthly Payment of Taxes (QRMP) scheme for small taxpayers under GST system.
Under the scheme, taxpayers with aggregate annual turnover of up to Rs 5 crore in the previous financial year are eligible for this scheme. Those tax-payers should also have filed their October GSTR-3B (sales) return by November 30, 2020.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation has developed the Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS).
The indigenously made Howitzer, which was developed in partnership with a private sector industry, is undergoing trails in Maharashtra. As per DRDO, over 200 of these guns can be delivered to the Army within 18-24 months of the order.

The Urban Governance Index (UGI)-2020 has released by the Mumbai-based non-profit organisation Praja Foundation.
As per the index, Odisha tops the list of states in urban governance followed by Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. The study assessed the urban governance reforms across 40 cities in 28 states and NCT of Delhi.

Google India has recently released its annual ‘Year in Search’ results, which highlighted the most popular searches on Google.
As per the report, US President-elect Joe Biden was the most searched personality on Google this year. The IPL was the top trending search of the year and Searches about Covid-19 pandemic featured the most in the list.

Asian Development Bank (ADB) has recently lowered the expected contraction for India in the current fiscal to 8 per cent from 9 per cent.
After falling by 23.9 per cent in Q1 of fiscal year 2020, the Indian economy began to normalise with only 7.5 per cent in Q2. This was released in ADB’s latest ‘Asian Development Outlook 2020 Update’.

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has recently inaugurated the Koilwar bridge over Sone river in Bihar.
This 1.5 km long bridge has been laid in parallel to the 138-year-old two lane rail-road bridge. A six-lane bridge is being constructed with the outlay of Rs 266 crore. The three-lane carriageway has been opened for public.
