Notes:
The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) launched the “Svanidhi se Samriddhi” programme in 126 additional cities across 14 states and Union territories.
“Svanidhi se Samriddhi”, an additional programme of PM Svanidhi, was launched last year in 125 cities under the first phase, covering around 35 lakh street vendors and their families. PM Svanidhi aims at providing an affordable working capital loan to street vendors.

Notes:
The University Grants Commission (UGC) announced that students will now be able to pursue two full-time academic programmes in physical mode.
The guidelines will apply to all the programmes available across the country. Students can either choose a combination of a diploma programme and an undergraduate (UG) degree, two master’s programmes, or two bachelor’s programmes. Earlier, the UGC regulations did not allow students to pursue two full-time programmes.

The Food Corporation of India (FCI) has an agreement signed with every State for the procurement of raw rice.
Recently, the Telangana government has been the Centre procure paddy from the State at the minimum support price (MSP) to aid farmers as well as parboiled rice. Telangana, a decentralised procurement state (DCP), should supply raw rice to the central pool, as per FCI.

Founder and CEO of Nykaa, Falguni Nayar has been named the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2021. A M Naik, Group Chairman, Larsen & Toubro, was felicitated with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Falguni Nayar was also announced as the wealthiest new entrant in the Hurun Global Rich List 2022, recently. She will now represent India at the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year Award (WEOY).

Veer Kunwar Singh, a military commander, was a key figure in the 1857 Indian Rebellion against the British East India Company.
On April 23, the birth anniversary of the freedom fighter, the state government has planned to conduct a programme, under the banner of ‘Rashtriya Ashmita Manch’. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will pay tributes to the veteran freedom fighter with 75,000 national flags under the ongoing ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

The Ministry of Roads, Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has developed the portal named ‘e-DAR’ (e-Detailed Accident Report). Digitalised DPRs will be uploaded on the portal for easy access.
It was announced that the web portal will be linked to the Integrated Road Accident Database (iRAD). It will provide instant information on road accidents and help accelerate accident compensation claims.

Notes:
A Covid-19 breathalyzer test with the ability to provide diagnostic results in three minutes has won emergency-use authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The test, made by Texas-based InspectIR Systems, is authorized for those with the age of 18 and above. The sysytem correctly identified 91.2% of positive samples and 99.3% of negative samples. As per studies, the breathalyzer’s sensitivity is comparable to that of rapid antigen tests.

On the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a 108 feet statue of Lord Hanuman in Gujarat’s Morbi.
It is the second of the four statues being built in the four directions across the country, as part of the ‘Hanumanji Char Dham’ project. The first statue of the series was built in Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla in 2010. The work on the third statue, in the south at Rameswaram has started.

India and Finland signed an MoU to establish an Indo-Finnish Virtual Network Centre on Quantum Computing.
Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh and Finland Minister of Economic Affairs Mika Lintila, who is currently in India, announced this. The Indian side has identified three top institutes IIT- Madras, IISER- Pune and C DAC- Pune for Virtual Network Centre on Quantum Computing.

U.S. President Joe Biden launched USD 6 billion ‘Civil nuclear credit program’, to rescue nuclear power plants at risk of closing.
It helps to continue nuclear energy as a carbon-free source of power that helps to combat climate change. The U.S. Department of Energy opened the certification and bidding process for the program that is intended to bail out financially distressed owners or operators of nuclear power reactors.
