Notes:
As per a statement by APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority), the export of processed food by India has increased by 26.51 per cent during April-February 2020-21. By value, the increase stood at Rs.43,798 crore.
This increase has been achieved despite COVID 19 pandemic prevailing throughout the world.

Chinese Government, has named its first Mars rover as ‘Zhurong’ after the country’s traditional fire God. The rover is aboard a Mars probe named Tianwen-1 that the recently reached the Mars orbit.
It would descend to the Mars surface shortly. Tianwen-1 has been sent to mars with an aim to analyse and map the Martian surface, look for possible water resources and understand the environment.

Chloe Zhao who belongs to China, has become the 1st Asian woman to win an Oscar Academy Award under the “Best Director” category.
She has been conferred with this prestigious award for her movie “Nomadland”. The movie is also adjudged as the Best Picture of the year.

The World Malaria Day for the year 2021 was observed on 25th April this year. The theme for this year’s World Malaria Day was “Reaching the zero-malaria target”.
As per a WHO Report 2019, India represents 3% of the global malaria burden and it has registered a reduction in malaria cases by 49% and reduction in deaths by 50.5% compared with 2017 levels.

The Indian Navy has deployed ‘Oxygen Express’ to island territories of Lakshadweep. As a part of COVID fight, Indian Naval ship INS Shrada, in the name of oxygen express delivered Covid relief materials like oxygen cylinders, rapid antigen testing kits etc., to Lakshadweep.
Similar relief materials have been sent to Port Blair of Andaman and Nicobar Islands by the Indian Navy.

Notes:
The Union Ministry of Agriculture has certified Andaman and Nicobar Islands as organic, under the Large Area Certification (LAC) Scheme of the PGS-India (Participatory Guarantee System) certification programme.
In a first of such kind, about 14,491-hectare (ha) area of contiguous territory has been certified as organic by the Agriculture Ministry.

India has been ranked at 49th position in Chandler Good Government Index (CGGI). Finland has topped the index.
The index ranks 104 countries, under which each country is measured across over 50 open data points. It is based in seven pillars which are leadership and foresight; robust laws and policies; strong institutions; financial stewardship; attractive marketplace; global influence and reputation; and helping people rise.

An alliance of cryptocurrency firms and organisations have announced the Crypto Climate Accord (CCA).
It is an industry-driven agreement in which the firms vow to switch to renewable energy sources by 2025 and go completely eliminate greenhouse gas emissions by 2040. CCA is led by three non-profit groups: The Rocky Mountain Institute; the Alliance for Innovative Regulation; and Energy Web Foundation.

Yanbu is a port city on the Red Sea coast of western part of the Saudi Arabia. Recently, a remotely piloted boat packed with explosives has been found by the kingdom near the port of Yanbu in the Red Sea.
Saudi Arabia claimed to have intercepted and destroyed the attack boat, which caused a blast. Ther have been a series of attacks on shipping in the Mideast region amid a shadow war and negotiations between Iran and Israel.

Notes:
Agriculture Infrastructure Fund has crossed the Rs. 8000 crore mark after receiving 8,665 applications worth Rs. 8,216 crores. The largest share of the applications is contributed by Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) (58%), Agri-entrepreneurs (24%) and individual farmers (13%).
Under the scheme, one lakh crore rupees will be provided by banks and financial institutions as loans with interest subvention of 3 per cent per annum and credit guarantee for loans up to two Crore rupees.
