Notes:
In Union Budget 2018, the term “grandfathering clause” was used in the context of Long-term capital gains (LTCG) tax. The “grandfathering” clause is a special provision by which a person, institution or any entity can be exempted from a new law, rule or regulation. The Finance Minister used a new provision of long-term capital gains (LTCG) tax in his 2018-19 Union Budget speech. As per the new provision, the government would tax long-term capital gains exceeding Rs 1 lakh at a rate of 10 percent; however, the all gains up to January 31, 2018, have been “grandfathered” or exempted from LTCG tax. The gains made in the future, or beyond January 31, 2018, will be taxed according to the new LTCG tax regime.

The Bandhan Express is an international passenger train which runs between the Indian city of Kolkata and the Bangladeshi city of Khulna. It is the 2nd modern train link between the Indian state of West Bengal and Bangladesh. On November 9, 2017, the Prime Minister of India, Prime Minister of Bangladesh and West Bengal Chief Minister flagged off the train Kolkata-Khulna Bandhan Express.

Government of India has been promoting organic farming under two dedicated schemes namely Mission Organic Value Chain Development North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER) and Parampragat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) since 2015 through State Governments. Under these schemes, support has been provided for formation of farmers’ clusters/ Farmer Producer Organisation; incentives to farmers for input procurement, value addition including post harvest infrastructure creation, packaging, branding, publicity, transportation, organic fairs etc..

Varun Dhawan’s upcoming movie ‘Coolie No. 1’ has become the first Bollywood film to go plastic-free. The environmental friendly initiative was taken by director of movie David Dhawan and its producers Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani and Deepshikha Deshmukh. The movie is all set to release on May 1, 2020. Their decision comes days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his Independence Day speech, urged people to shun single-use plastic and encouraged usage of jute and cloth bags to protect the environment.
