Notes:
Indian ace boxer Amit Panghal was seen in news, as he has been ranked first by the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Boxing Task Force ahead of next month’s Olympic Qualifiers.
With this, Amit became the first Indian boxer to be ranked first, in more than a decade. Before Amit, Vijender Singh was ranked first in 2009. The IOC Task force will conduct the Olympic qualifiers and the main event in Tokyo, as the International Boxing association is currently suspended.

Notes:
The Tamil Nadu Minister for Culture, Pandiarajan and the Minister from the French province Center-Val de Loire, Olivier Frezot had a meeting in the state capital Chennai. During the meeting, they announced that Tamil Nadu and the French Province of Center-Val de Loire are set to make Tamil and French fusion music, which is to be performed in both the states.
The two states have already signed an MoU for mutual cooperation in culture studies. The Ministers also reviewed the progress made in the agreement.

The New Zealand Police have recently unveiled their first Artificial Intelligence (AI) Police officer Ella. Ella stands for ‘Electronic Lifelike Assistant’, which will be configured at the digital kiosks, to resolve the queries of public and reduce queues in stations.
Ella will be made available in the headquarters building initially, and will be expanded to other parts of the country soon. The virtual assistant has been designed as a mix of 26 different people.

The captain of Indian men’s team Manpreet Singh was recently named ‘Player of the Year for 2019’, by the International Hockey Federation (FIH).
Manpreet became the first Indian to win the prestigious award since its introduction in 1999. Manpreet Singh successfully led India to victories in FIH Series Finals and FIH Olympic Qualifiers in 2019. He has recently completed 250 international matches for India during the FIH Men’s Hockey Series Finals 2019.

Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the President of Portugal recently arrived in New Delhi on a four-day visit. He has been the President of the European country since 2016. He made his first visit to India along with some important delegates of the country.
During his visit, India and Portugal signed as many as 14 agreements for mutual cooperation in several fields including Defence, Transport, Intellectual property rights and Yoga.

Minister of State for Shipping Mansukh Mandaviya recently announced that the Ministry is developing Industrial Cluster-cum-Logistics Park at Sahibganj, a town in Jharkhand. India’s second riverine Multi Modal terminal was also inaugurated at Sahibganj in September 2019.
A Freight village is also being developed by the Ministry at Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The establishments being developed at Sahibganj and Varanasi entail a project cost of Rs.200 Crores.

Notes:
India’s first under-water Metro rail service is the Kolkata Metro, where the metro train plies under the river Hooghly of West Bengal. The under-water stretch of the project is nearly 5.8 kilometers. The project is being executed by Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation Limited.
Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal recently flagged off the first phase of the East-West corridor, of the Metro network. Kolkata Metro is also the first metro rail service of India.

Notes:
The ‘Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Memorial Centre’ is to be inaugurated at Varanasi by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the event, the Prime Minister is also expected to unveil the statue of Deendayal Upadhyaya in the city.
The memorial centre is a Greenfield infrastructure project in the city of Varanasi. The Indian Prime Minister is set to visit Varanasi, to inaugurate the Centre as well as flag-off the third corporate train Kashi Mahakal Express through video link.

Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) is the apex body of Private Real Estate Developers Associations. It has launched a mobile application called ‘CREDAI Awaas’, which aims to facilitate ease of purchase of residential properties by homebuyers.
Through this application, a credible platform is created for prospective home buyers so that they identify suitable Residential properties and contact their developers directly. The details of the CREDAI member developers are displayed in the application.

‘GulFood 2020’, the world’s largest annual food and beverage trade exhibition is being held in the Dubai World Trade Centre city of Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), form February 16 to 20.
In the 25th edition of the exhibition, more than 5000 exhibitors are to participate. The Indian pavilion at the exhibition was recently inaugurated by the Union Minister for Food Processing Industries-Harsimrat Kaur Badal.
