Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh recently addressed the BRICS Anti-Corruption Ministerial Meet and reiterated India’s commitment to implement the FATF Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism financing standards.
Dr Jitendra Singh expressed satisfaction over the finalization of the BRICS Denial of Safe Haven initiative and shared experiences at the BRICS Workshop on Anti-Corruption and Economic Development.

MACN is made up of over 165 member companies that combined represent 50% of global tonnage. Captain Rajesh Unni, Founder and CEO of Synergy Group, one of the world’s leading ship managers and one of India’s major marine firms, says that while the shipping sector is becoming more open, more can and should be done to combat corruption. The shipping industry has to pull out all the stops against corruption after being elected Vice-Chair of the Denmark-based Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN).

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has launched an anti-corruption mobile app named 1064 Anti-Corruption Mobile App. This mobile application has been developed by the vigilance department, Uttarakhand. It helps the citizens to lodge corruption-related complaints directly with the authorities.

The “International Anti-Corruption Day” is observed on December 9 every year, across the world. It is organised by the United Nations Development Program.
The Day aims to raise awareness on the importance of getting rid of corruption, which prevents the progress towards sustainable development goals. The UNCAC United Nations Convention Against Corruption was drafted in 2003.

“अंतर्राष्ट्रीय भ्रष्टाचार विरोधी दिवस” (International Anti-Corruption Day) ​​​​दुनिया भर में हर साल 9 दिसंबर को मनाया जाता है। यह संयुक्त राष्ट्र विकास कार्यक्रम द्वारा आयोजित किया जाता है। इस दिवस का उद्देश्य भ्रष्टाचार से छुटकारा पाने के महत्व पर जागरूकता बढ़ाना है, जो सतत विकास लक्ष्यों की दिशा में प्रगति को रोकता है।

शब्बीर हुसैन शेखदम खंडवाला- गुजरात के पूर्व डीजीपी को BCCI की भ्रष्टाचार निरोधक इकाई का प्रमुख नियुक्त किया गया है। उन्होंने अजीत सिंह का स्थान लिया है, जिनका कार्यकाल मार्च 2021 में समाप्त हो गया था। शब्बीर हुसैन 1973 बैच के आईपीएस अधिकारी हैं और 2010 में अपनी आईपीएस सेवा से सेवानिवृत्त हुए थे।

Notes:
Shabir Hussein Shekhadam Khandwawala- former DGP of Gujarat, has been appointed as the head of the BCCI’s Anti-Corruption Unit. He succeeds Ajit Singh, whose term ended in March 2021.
Khandwawala is a 1973 batch IPS officer and retired from his IPS service in 2010. He has been appointed ahead of the IPL beginning April 9.

Indian social activist Anjali Bharadwaj has been selected as one of 12 anti-corruption champions announced by the United States.
The 48-year-old activist served as an active member of the Right to Information Movement in India for over two decades. She is also the founder of the Satark Nagrik Sangathan (SNS), which aims to promote transparency and accountability in government.
