The Indian Army has recently named one of its military firing ranges after the famous Indian actress Vidya Balan, to recognise her contribution to cinema. The Vidya Balan Firing Range is located in Gulmarg, Kashmir.
Earlier, the actress was invited to join the board of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. Earlier this year, the actress had attended the Gulmarg Winter Festival organised by the Indian Army.

Academy award winning American actress Renee Zellweger won the ‘Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama’ award in the Golden Globe awards 2020. With this year’s award, Zellweger has been presented with the coveted Golden Globe awards for the fourth time. In the biopic film ‘Judy’, she had played the critically acclaimed role of Judy Garland. She had earlier won the Academy award for best supporting actress for her role in the movie titled ‘Cold Mountain’.

Actress Deepika Padukone has been honoured by the 26th Annual Crystal Award for raising mental health awareness. She is the only Indian actress to feature in Davos 2020 winners list. With more than 300 million people suffering with the illness, depression is the leading cause of ill health and disability in the world and a major contributor to the overall global burden of disease.

UNICEF honoured Indian actress Priyanka Chopra with the Danny Kaye Humanitarian Award at the UNICEF Snowflake Ball. Danny Kaye Humanitarian Award is named after actor Danny Kaye. He was an American actor, dancer, and singer. He became the first goodwill ambassador of UNICEF in 1954. He was awarded Honorary Oscar for the film about his work with UNICEF.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas will be honoured at the Marrakech International Film Festival for her contribution to cinema. Even though the festival celebrated Indian cinema back in 2012, this is the first time that an Indian celebrity is being honoured there. A tribute will be given to Priyanka Chopra Jonas at the mythical Jemaa El Fna Square in the presence of people and at a special venue where there have been no award ceremonies hosted in the past.

Shaukat Kaifi (93), the veteran Bollywood actor and Shabana Azmi’s mother, has passed away  in Mumbai on 23rd November 2019. Kaifi’s husband “Kaifi Azmi” was the celebrated Urdu poet and film lyricist. She and her husband were leading lights of the Indian People’s Theatre Association (IPTA) and the Progressive Writers Association (IWA), which were the cultural platforms of the Communist Party of India (CPI). Also credited as Shaukat Azmi, Kaifi’s acting credits include ‘Bazaar’, ‘Umrao Jaan’ and Mira Nair’s Oscar-nominated film ‘Salaam Bombay’. Her last film was Shaadi Ali’s ‘Saathiya’.

Veteran actor Rekha and the late Sridevi conferred the Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR) National Award for the years 2019 and 2018, announced actor Nagarjuna in the presence of industrialist T Subbarami Reddy at an event held in Hyderabad.
Instituted by the Akkineni International Foundation to honour ANR, the awards were presented at Annapurna Studios in the presence of actor Chiranjeevi and other Telugu cinema dignitaries.
