Nripa Kama II (1026-1047) is considered the founder of the Hoysala dynasty. The Hoysala dynasty ruled over a large part of Karnataka, as well as parts of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, from the 10th to the 14th century. The Hoysala dynasty is known for its art and architecture, which are known for their intricate detailing and unique style. The Hoysala rulers were also patrons of the arts, and supported the construction of temples and sculptures. Some of the best examples of Hoysala architecture and sculpture can be seen at Halebid, Belur, and Somnathpur.
