Q. Who was responsible for introducing the first printing press to Bombay?
Answer: Bhimji Parekh
Notes: Bhimji Parekh introduced Bombay’s first printing press in 1674–75 to print Brahmin manuscripts. He was a Surat-born businessman and East India Company broker. Despite importing the press, type-founding for Indian scripts was unsuccessful, so early printing was mostly in English.
