The Yellow Sea is located between mainland China and the Korean Peninsula. It is an extension of the East China Sea, which lies in the Pacific Ocean. This sea got its name from the sand grains that descends into its waters from the Gobi Desert Sandstorms, which makes its waters having a golden yellow colour. It is bordered by China to the west and the coast of North Korea and South Korea to the east. Since 2018, this sea serves as the location of peace zones between North Korea and South Korea.
