The Sombrero Channel is located between Car Nicobar and Little Nicobar. The channel is 30 km wide and separates the central and S groups of the Nicobar Islands. The Ten Degree Channel separates Little Andaman from Car Nicobar. The channel is about 10 miles wide at its narrowest point. It is named for its location at approximately the 10th degree of latitude. The channel is an important shipping lane in the Indian Ocean. It is used by ships traveling between India and Southeast Asia, and between the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea. It is also an important fishing ground. The Duncan Passage is a strait located between Little Andaman and Car Nicobar Island. It is about 48 km (30 mi) wide. It separates Rutland Island (part of Great Andaman) to the north, and Little Andaman to the south.
