East Timor(Timor-Leste), officially the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, is an island country located in the Southeast Asian region in the Asian continent. This country is located in the eastern half of the Timor Island which is a part of the Maritime Southeast Asia, which also forms part of the Lesser Sunda Islands of the Malay Archipelago. Timor Island, in Southeast Asia located north of Timor Sea, is divided into two parts, the eastern part is the sovereign country of the Timor-Leste and western part is an Indonesian province under the sovereignty of Indonesia, therefore, Indonesia is the only country which shares a land border with Timor-Leste. The Timor Sea, which is located in the eastern Indian Ocean, separates the Timor Island and East Timor(Timor-Leste) from Australia to the south. Atauro Island and Jaco Island form part of the territory of Timor-Leste located in the Banda Sea and the Timor Sea. Oecusse is the exclave province of the Tim0r-Leste located on the north-western side of the Timor Island surrounded by the West Timor side of Indonesia facing the Suva Sea and the Banda Sea. The capital of East Timor(Timor-Leste) is Dili, which is the chief port and commercial centre of East Timor. Portuguese and Tetum are the two official languages of East Timor. Tetum belongs to Austronesian family of languages spoken through Southeast Asia and the Pacific.
