She was also the first woman governor of an Indian state ( United Provinces of Agra and Oudh). She was also a great poetess whose romanticism charmed people in India and Europe. Some of her literary works include the Golden Threshold (1905), The Broken Wing (1917), The Bird of Time and The Magic Lute.
