Uyuni Salt Flat or Salar de Uyuni is the world's largest salt flat. It is located in Bolivia. Several pre-historic lakes transformed to form a salt crust of few metres. The crust is the source of salt and brine, which is rich in Lithium. Salt crystallization due to water evaporation leads to hexagonal formations on the surface of Salar de Uyuni. Incahuasi Island is the centre of Salar. This salt flat contains large amount of sodium, potassium, lithium, magnesium and borax.
