Narasimha I of the Hoysala dynasty ruled from 1152 to 1173, defeating King Tailapa III of the Western Chalukya Empire. His son, Veera Ballala II, later overthrew him. The Hoysala Empire, centered in Karnataka, initially had its capital at Belur, later moving to Halebidu. Known for Hoysala architecture, notable sites include the Chennakesava Temple and Hoysaleswara Temple. Kannada and Sanskrit were the main languages. The Hoysalas resisted Delhi Sultanate invasions in South India.
