Notes: Enactment of the Factories Act, 1881 was an important milestone in the evolution of industrial relations, as it ushered in a force that awakened workers. Several workers’ organisations had begun to take form by this time, and in 1890, the first workers’ association, named Bombay Mill Hands Association, was established with the efforts of N.M. Lokhande. After this several other associations were formed.
