One of the most easily recognizable constellation is the Saptarishi (Sapta-seven, rishi-sages). It is a group of seven stars that forms a part of Ursa Major Constellation. The North star indicates the north direction. It is also called the Pole Star. Note: Big Dipper (part of the constellation of Ursa Major) is known as saptarishi, with the seven stars representing seven rishis viz. Vashistha, Marichi, Pulastya, Pulaha, Atri, Angiras and Kratu.
