Bhakti saint Mirabai became a disciple of Ravidas, a saint from a caste considered "untouchable". Mirabai was a Rajput princess who married into the royal family of Mewar. She left the palace because she didn't like palace life. She devoted her life to Lord Krishna and composed many bhajans to express her devotion.
Mirabai was born in 1498 in the village of Chaukarii in Merta. She was the daughter of Rana Ratan Singh, the ruler of Merta.
Mirabai's anthology of songs is called the Padavali. She wrote her poems in Vraja-bhasha, a dialect of Hindi spoken in and around Vrindavan.
It is believed that Mirabai disappeared in the temple of Krishna in Dwarka and united with her lord.
