This is a special category among schedule tribes as recognized by the government. Second statement is correct. Baigas are considered as a particularly vulnerable tribal group (PVTG). They rely mostly on shifting cultivation, forest produce and fishing for sustenance. Their population is close to 150,000 people spread mainly over forested areas of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Baiga became the first tribe in the country to get the habitat rights. The habitat rights have been given under the Forest Rights Act of 2006. Currently, there are 75 centrally recognized PVTGs in the country.
