Ankiya Nat is an acting drama, popular in Assam, India. In Assam, the singing of Ankiya Naat is called Bhaona. Ankiya Nat is the creation of the great Assamese saint and social reformer Shrimant Sankardev. The Ankiya Nats were written in a language called Brajavali (a mixture of Assamese-Maithili) and mainly focused on the acts of Lord Krishna. Ankiya naat performance is accompanied by instruments, singers, dance and specially designed costumes. Ankiya Nut or Bhaona is one of the key elements of the rich Assamese culture.
