PSR J1719-1438 b: The Planet made of Diamond discovered

• Recently, astronomers have claimed to have found a planet entirely made of diamonds.
• The planet PSR J1719-1438 b is an extra solar planet, discovered on August 25, 2011 in orbit around PSR J1719-1438, a millisecond pulsar.
• PSR J1719 -1438 is a pulsar some 4,000 light years away in the Serpens constellation.
• The pulsar completes more than 10,000 rotations a minute.
• The pulsar planet PSR J1719-1438 b is mostly likely composed largely of crystalline carbon, or diamond, making it the densest planet ever discovered. Pulsars are small spinning stars more than ten miles in diameter — the size of a small city — that emit a beam of radio waves.
