Proposed Khele India Drive

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that the government has plans to launch Khele India campaign across the country to promote sporting culture in the country. The Central Government has proposed to kick start ‘Khele India’ as a platform facilitating the participation of crores of players across the country in near future. The announcement regarding this proposal was made by the Prime Minister during the launch of  Khel Mahakumbh – 2017 which saw the participation of more than 30 lakh players in more than 20 sports.

Khele India campaign would be similar to Gujarat’s Khel Mahakumbh. Khel Mahakumbh is an annual sporting event taking place since 2010. The event was initiated in the state by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his tenure as Gujarat’s Chief Minister. According to the Prime Minister, Khel Mahakumbh enjoys overwhelming response in Gujarat and has encouraged sporting culture in Gujarat.
