Professor Yashpal: Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award

The President Ms Pratibha Devisingh Patil bestowed the esteemed Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award to famous Scientist and Educationist, Professor Yashpal for the year 2011 for distinction in the fields of Public Administration, Academics and Management. 

About Prof. Yash Pal

  • Prof. Yash Pal is an Indian scientist and educator.
  • Yash Pal has held many positions within the educational establishment of the Indian government, is known for regular appearances on the science programme Turning Point telecast on Doordarshan and for explaining scientific concepts in layman’s language along with participation on advisory boards for televised science programmes such as Bharat ki Chaap.
  • In 1976 the Padma Bhushan was conferred on him for his contribution to science and space technology.
  • Prof.Pal was made a Marconi Fellow in 1980 for his work at the Space Applications Centre in Ahmedabad.
  • He is a Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi till present.

About Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award

  • Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management, Delhi had instituted the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for Excellence in Public Administration, Academics and Management in 2000. The honour carries a cash award of Rs. Five lakh, a Citation and a Plaque.
