Prevention of Road Accidents is National Priority under Phase–III of PMGSY
11th to 17th January 2020 is observed as the National Road Safety Week under which all stakeholders across the country are provided with an opportunity to take part in concerted action for improving the Road Safety measures, the theme of this year’s road safety week is ‘Bringing Change Through Youth’. Under this Road Safety Week, to ensure that the best practices are adopted across the country, the key player in ensuring road safety in India, the Department of Rural Development has organized a workshop on ‘Road Safety’ during which the Union Minister of Rural Development, Narendra Singh Tomar addressed the media on Thursday, 16th January 2020 and emphasized on the priority for the prevention of road accidents in the country as every year due to road accidents the nation is losing lakhs of people. The Minister also informed that under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Phase-III, all efforts will be made by the Central Government for the prevention of Road Accidents as a National Priority.
