PPE Supplies

The centre is taking steps to augment the supply of PPE (personal protective equipment) like hazmat suits, masks, etc. to ensure sufficient supply in the upcoming days.

Centre’s Efforts

The Union Ministry of Textiles and the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare recently assured that sufficient steps are being taken to make sure that there will not be any short supply of PPE due to export bans and supply shortages in source countries. The ministries have been taking efforts to identify domestic sources. Prototypes from 6 domestic manufacturers of protective garments have already passed the tests at SITRA (South India Textiles research association) lab. HLL Lifecare Ltd has been designated as the single window procurement agency under the Health Ministry for these equipment.

SITRA or South Indian Textile Research Association is a textile research organisation set up in 1956. It is located in Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. It is an industry sponsored institute that is supported by the Union Ministry of Textiles.
