POLNET 2.0 launched by Union Home Minister

The Union Minister of Home Affairs, Amit Shah launched the new and enhanced platform ‘POLNET 2.0’ during the national conference of ‘Heads of public protection and Disaster relief organizations’ on Monday, 20th January 2020 in New Delhi.

The Directorate of Coordination Police Wireless (DCPW) manages and operates POLNET or the police network services in the country, which in operation in the country since 2006. The Directorate has created a new robust communication platform with improved multi-media facilities for the Police forces  called POLNET 2.0. It will be beneficial during disasters or law and order problems and will be providing video conferencing facilities to up to four entities and internet facility to the forces even through satellite communication in remote areas. The latest version of POLNET will not be affected by weather conditions and in the upcoming two years about 3000, POLNET 2.0 centers will be established across the country. The Directorate of Coordination Police Wireless (DCPW) was placed under the Ministry of Home Affairs in 1950 following its set up in the year 1946.
