PM Modi meets PM of St. Vincent and Grenadines in New Delhi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Prime Minister of St. Vincent and Grenadines Dr. Ralph Everard Gonsalves in New Delhi. Prime Minister R.E Gonsalves who is on a first ever visit of Prime Minister of St. Vincent and Grenadines to India is also participating in high-level United Nations Convention on Combating Desertification (UNCCD) Symposium, a 12-day conference being held from 2-13 September 2019 at Greater Noida.
Key Highlights
PM Gonsalves noted enormous goodwill for India in St. Vincent and Grenadines and also in Carribean and Latin American region. He expressed appreciation for India’s developmental cooperation with the region as well as for India’s prompt assistance subsequent to natural calamities.
Both the leaders PM Modi and PM Gonsalves noted the close cooperation between two countries including in international fora.
Both also agreed to enhance cooperation between two nations including in reas of skill development, education, training, culture, disaster management and finance.
About St. Vincent and Grenadines
It is an island country that lies within the Lesser Antilles, in eastern Caribbean Sea.
It is a sovereign state. It consists of island of Saint Vincent and northern Grenadine Islands (which stretch southward toward Grenada).
St. Vincent and Grenadines registered a historical achievement of becoming the smallest country ever to be elected as a non-permanent member of United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
