PM Modi dedicates “Rewa Solar Project” to the nation

On July 10, 2020, PM Modi will inaugurate the 750 MW of Rewa Solar Project. It is Asia’s largest solar power project. It is located in the Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh.

Highlights

The Rewa project consists of three solar generating units of 250 MW each on a 500 hectare land. On the whole, the project is set up in a 1500 hectare land. The Solar project was developed by Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited. The Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited is a joint venture company of Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (MPUVN).

The Government of India had allocated Rs 138 crore to the project.

About Rewa Solar Project

The project is the first solar project in India to break the grid parity barrier. The project will reduce carbon emission by 15 lakh million tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.

The project achieved historic results of first year tariff of Rs 2.97/unit. The solar project tariffs that prevailed in 2017 was Rs 4.50/unit.

The project is the first to get loan from Clean Technology Fund of World Bank.
