This platform was launched in 2015. It has been designed by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) team in collaboration with National Informatics Center (NIC). Platform is a three-tier system namely PMO, Union Government Secretaries and Chief Secretaries of States.

Objectives of PRAGATI

Three objectives of PRAGATI are:

  1. Grievance Redressal
  2. Programme Implementation
  3. Project Monitoring

Technology used in PRAGATI

PRAGATI platform bundles three latest technologies viz., Digital data management, geo-spatial technology and video-conferencing.

Significance of the portal

The portal promotes cooperative federalism because it brings the Secretaries of Government of India and the Chief Secretaries of the States on one platform. It is a robust system that brings e-transparency and e-accountability by real-time presence and exchange among the stakeholders.

Issues with the portal

Portal provides for direct interaction of the PM with state secretaries without involving political executives of the states. Thus, it is undermining the State political executive. Furthermore, portal is leading to a concentration of power in the extra-constitutional office of PMO.
