PM laid foundation to country’s first ever Indian Institute of Skills at Kanpur

PM Modi has laid the foundation stone for the country’s first ever Indian Institute of Skills (IIS) in Kanpur. The idea for the institute was conceptualised by the Prime Minister during his visit to Singapore’s Institute of Technical Education. The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship along with the Institute of Technical Education, Singapore will open the institute. The Skill Development has decided to have six such skill development institutes. The PM also inaugurated the skill exhibition (Kaushal Pradarshini) for the youth of Uttar Pradesh.

Skill development refers to all the efforts to improve the effectiveness and contribution of labor to the overall productivity as well as production to lead the economy to a higher trajectory.
