PM invites views on “Mission Swachh Bharat”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his bit to seek people’s participation in all endeavours of his government, he has again reached out to the people of India for their views and suggestions for his most dear mission, ‘Mission Swachh Bharat’ which is going to be launched on October 2nd, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Modi had made an appealing independence day speech in which he had laid special stress on the cleanliness which he considered was prime for the progress of the nation. He had linked cleanliness to tourism promotion and create global standards and interests. He reiterated PM’s commitment to ensure world-class standards of hygiene and sanitation. Such a commitment is essential to change perceptions and attitudes about India.
People have to fulfil Gandhiji’s long cherished dream of a Clean India through Jan Bhagidari or people’s participation. “Together we can make a big difference. Please share your inputs in making Mission Swachh Bharat a success and laying the foundations of a ‘Clean India’ on our official website”said PM’s statement.
PM also stated his vision for solid waste management and waste water management by inviting people to join in. The PM has proposed public-private partnership (PPP) model which will initially be taken up in 500 towns and cities in India.
PM Modi’s vision is to convert this mission into a mass movement without which it will be impossible to achieve and maintain. The mission will eventually be linked to economic activity which will speeden its progress and invite more people to join. The plan is to take the mission to Panchayat levels and involve everyone in the hierarchy for proper implementation. There will be thus a pan-India cleanliness drive starting September 25 till the festival of Diwali which falls on October 23.
