PM inaugurates Dynamic Facade Lighting in Parliament House

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Dynamic Facade Lighting of Parliament House Estate in presence of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and Union Ministers including Hardeep Puri and Jitendra Singh.

About Dynamic Facade Lighting

Work of dynamic facade lighting was initiated on 20 July 2019 by Central Public Works Department (CPWD) and completed in just 22 days.

Power Efficient: As many as 875 energy-efficient LED (light-emitting diode) lights have been installed in Parliament Complex. These are power efficient and uses only one-fifth (20%) of electricity as compared to other types of lights. These long-lasting, excellent intensity LED bulbs are capable of creating over 16 million colour combinations.

Areas Included: The dynamic facade lighting includes Parliament House, Parliament Library Building and Parliament House Annexe buildings and the power consumption in these buildings will be about 26 KW, 15 KW and 12 KW respectively.

Cost Recovery: Considering expenditure involved in traditional temporary illumination (of 10-15 days), the cost of installing permanent dynamic LED facade lighting (available for all 365 days) is recoverable in 8.2 years.

Innovative Lightning: The LED lighting is programmable and electronically controlled through computers. Dynamic lighting system through intermittent multi-colour lights creates an aura and enhances grandeur of Parliament House. The innovative and inspirational lighting has been executed on lines of surrounding areas of Parliament House Estate.

These beautiful lights will illuminate beautiful Parliament building all round year would enhance the beauty and visibility of the Parliament building. Prior to this, such lightings were installed in North Block and South Block.
