Plasma Donation Program to be launched in Dharavi, Mumbai
Maharashtra government will launch a plasma donation program following the ‘Plasma Daan Sankalp Abhiyan’ for primary screening of recovered COVID 19 patients in the Dharavi area of Mumbai. This comes after Dharavi set an example of controlling the Coronavirus spread and that is why the local MP has now organized a plasma donation camp there.
The program will be launched on the birthday of the Chief Minister of the state on July 27. As per the records available with the municipality, the total number of cases in Dharavi area is more than 2500 but the pandemic has been arrested brilliantly in this densely populated area.
The World Health Organization has also appreciated the efforts taken to contain the spread of the virus in Mumbai’s Dharavi area since it was made possible due to the combined efforts of the local people and the local government.
Why is Dharavi Area so much in news?
Dharavi is a locality in Mumbai, Maharashtra and it is considered to be one of Asia’s largest slums. It has an area of just over 2.1 square kilometres and a population of about 1000000 with a population density of about 277136/km2. It is one of the most densely populated areas in the world.
