The legendary actor and doyen of Telugu cinema Akkineni Nageswara Rao(91) passed away due to cancer in Hyderabad.
About Veteran Telugu actor and producer Akkineni Nageswara Rao(ANR)
Born: September 20,1923 in Venkata Raghavapuram in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh.
Known as one of the pillars of Telugu cinema
One of the earliest stars of the Black& White era, with moving performances in films viz. Devadas, Prema Nagar, Maya Bazaar, Laila Majnu and Anarkali, etc.
Acted in 256 films in a career spanning over 75 years.
Owns a production house, Annapurna Studios, named after his wife. It is considered as Asia’s most modern state-of-the-art shooting studio.
- Awards & honors: Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, Dada Saheb Phalke Award(1991) , Nandi Awards for Best Actor, Filmfare Best Telugu Actor Awards, etc.
- International honors: Life time Achievement Award from Telugu Association of North America – 2012.
- ‘Manam’ was the last film of Akkineni Nageswara Rao, where he shared screen space with his son Nagarguna and grand son Naga Chaitanya.
