Phase-III of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) launched
The Union Minister of Rural Development, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare & Panchayati Raj, Narendra Singh Tomar on Wednesday, 18th December 2019 launched the Phase-III of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in New Delhi on the sidelines of the National Workshop on PMGSY. The National Workshop was organized by the Ministry of Rural Development.
Under the 3rd Phase of PMGSY, consolidation of 1,25,000 Kms through major rural links and routes that connect habitations to Gramin Agricultural Markets (GrAMs), Hospitals and Higher Secondary Schools have been aimed with an estimated cost of Rs 80,250 crores. As per the recommendations of the 14th Finance Commission, under this phase, the expenditure ratio will be shared in 60:40 percent between the Central and State Governments, except for 8 North Eastern States and 2 Himalayan States of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand for which the ratio will be 90% Central Government to 10 % for the State Governments. Out of 80,250 Crores, the Central government will pay Rs 53,800 crores and remaining by the states. Phase III will run up to 2024-25.
The minister informed that a total of 1,53,491 rural road work across the country have been completed under PMGSY as on 16th December 2019, out of which 36,063 km of road length has been constructed using green technologies.
