Pangolins
Pangolins are the only known mammals having large keratin scales covering their skin. These nocturnal mammals are among the world’s most trafficked animals. They are currently in the verge of extinction in Cameroon, which banned the hunting, exploitation and protection of these animals. Cameroon, along with other central African nations, faces large-scale illegal hunting and trading despite wildlife protection laws and international agreements. Extinction would mean drastic ecological and economic consequences for local communities.
