Pakistan starts building fence along disputed Afghan border

Pakistan has started building a fence along the Afghanistan border in high threat zones where militants have launched cross-border attacks on security posts in recent weeks. The two countries share a 2,400-kilometer border known as the Durand Line. It was drawn during colonial times and is not recognized by the Afghanistan government. Building a fence along the disputed border may further heighten tensions between both neighbouring countries, which have long accused each other of turning a blind eye to militants operating along the porous frontier.
