Namaste Orchha Festival
Namaste Orchha Festival is a 3 day festival conducted in Orchha in Madhya Pradesh. It is organised in early March to showcase the ancient town’s monuments, palaces and other historical heritages. For the 2020 edition, a food and crafts bazaar is to be organised, special helicopter services are to be provided to transport tourists and other engagements like business meet and Kisan Mela are also to be organised.
Ramraja Temple
One of the significant structures in Orchha is the Ramraja temple. It is an important Hindu pilgrimage site. It is the only temple where Lord Ram is worshipped as a king rather than a deity. It is also known as the Orchha Temple.
Founding of Orchha
Orchha is located on the banks of River Betwa. It was founded in 1501 AD in the Bundelkhand region. It was founded by King Rudra Pratap Singh- the first king of the region, which later became a princely state in British India. He was of the Bundela Rajputs.
