Operation Muskaan launched

On July 14, 2020, Operation Muskaan was launched in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Highlights

The operation aims at tracing missing children, prevent child labour and bonded child labour and rescue children engaged as domestic helps.

Operation Muskaan

The operation is conducted by the police of Andhra Pradesh. Police force was joined by Juvenile Welfare, women development and child welfare. The rescued children are to be provided shelter in Child Care Institutions and will be reunited with their parents. Also, they are to be produced before the Child Welfare Committees.

It is to be noted that, when the same operation was conducted in January 2020, 2,774 children were rescued in Andhra Pradesh.

About the Operation

The Operation Muskaan is also called Operation Smile. It is an initiative launched by the Ministry of Home Affairs to rescue and rehabilitate missing children.

The Ministry trains state police personnel about the methodology to extract information from such children tactfully. The state police personnel then execute the operation in their respective states as when required.
