Noted Marathi literary critic R G Jadhav passes away
Noted Marathi critic and litterateur R G Jadhav passed away in Pune, Maharashtra following prolonged illness. He was 83.
He was a prolific literary critic and had served as chief editor of the ‘Marathi Vishwakosha’ based in Wai between 2000 and 2002.
About R G Jadhav
- Born on August 24, 1932, at Vadodara in Gujarat.
- He had served as a professor of Marathi literature in various colleges, including one in Amravati, Elphinstone College (Mumbai), and also at Milind College (Aurangabad).
- He had presided over Marathi Sahitya Sammelan (2004) held at Aurangabad. He is recipient of many literary awards.
- He penned more than 45 books, including ‘Nilee Pahat’ (a critique of Dalit literature), ‘Anandacha Doh’ (a study of saint Tukaram) and ‘Bapu’ (a collection of 91 reflective poems on Mahatma Gandhi).
- He was also associated with Sadhana Trust and worked with rationalist and anti-superstition crusader Dr Narendra Dabholkar who was killed in August 2013.
